What's it worth? Appraisal of Victorian floral print
/Russell asks:
What can you tell me about this print? It’s an antique floral print in wooden frame that says copyright 1891 by Perry Mason. The print also states “presented by the youths companion” in the right lower corner of the print. Newspaper covering the back has a date of 1908.

AW says: The Perry Mason co. of Boston MA, was the owner of The Youth’s Companion, a magazine for the younger generation. It it’s day, it was the most popular publication for children and often came with Victorian color lithographed prints such as your’s.
Your print also gets points for having the original paper backing and being in a nice gold gilt frame in very good condition. The prints themselves are not rare, but it is uncommon to find them in such good condition.
Circa 1902, just as it states.
